The Beginning

Bhusawal is a town in northern Maharashtra state in Western India. It lies along the Tapti River between the Satpura Range and Ajanta Hills of the Deccan Plateau. Bhusawal Municipal Council was established in the year 1882.City is famous for having one of the largest Railways Yards in ASIA. Important National & State highways are passing through the City & to add more the biggest Railway junction adds an edge to city's transportation system.

Major rail and road routes pass through the town from Bombay to Calcutta and Allahabad. An important commercial centre for the surrounding cotton- growing region,The hinterland of Bhusawal is famous for banana cultivation. Bhusawal also trades in millet, and peanuts (groundnuts) and has a large-scale oil-processing industry.


The Position

Bhusawal, is located on the bank of Tapi river, is the biggest taluka of Jalgaon district, and situated on National Highway No. 6 (NH6). World Heritage famous Ajanta is about 60 km (Via Jamner) from Bhusawal.

By Air :
Aurangabad is the ideal base since it has direct link to Delhi, Pune, Nagpur and Mumbai.

By Rail :
Bhusawal and Jalgaon is directly linked to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur.

By Road :
State Transport buses are available from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur upto Aurangabad, Jalgaon, Bhusawal.

Bhusawal railway junction

Bhusawal has very good railway connectivity, and an important divisional headquarters of Central Railway of the Indian Railways. Bhusawal railway junction has rail line connecting Mumbai to Kolkata passing through this place. Also, it has a direct route to Bhopal and Jabalpur of West Central Railway, that passes via Khandwa and Itarsi. There are also direct trains from here to Mumbai and Delhi. Container Corporation of India has established their terminal for transportation of Containers through Railway.

Bhuswal railway division serves the following districts of Maharashtra viz Nasik, Malegaon, Dhule, Jalgaon, Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal of Maharashta and Burhanpur, Khandwa districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Bhusawal railway division is divided into three main sections viz. Bhusawal – Igatpuri on Mumbai route, Bhusawal – Khandwa on Itarsi route, and Bhusawal – Badnera section on Nagpur route.Bhusawal division with a route length of 727 km on broad gauge and 244 km on narrow gauge.

The biggest Railways Junction & one of the largest Railways Yards in ASIA. Bhusawal has a Railway's Zonal Training School which is a good place to visit.

Delicacies of Bhusawal

Bhusawal is known for its special white brinjals egg plants that are grown locally in the nearby areas. They often constitute the delicacies in local marriages along with daal vaati toop served with peanut garlic chutney.
Bhusawal is also famous for its Banana Cultivation. Traders from various parts of the country come to Bhusawal for buying raw banans. Bananas are exported to different countries across the world.

The Ajanta Travelers Lodge at the caves and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Holiday Resort at Fardapur (about 1.5 km from Ajanta) are the nearby places to get better accommodation.


Bhusawal city is famous for having one of the largest Railways Yards in ASIA, film distributing centers of Indian Film Industry & mass production of bananas. The city can be very comfortably approached by Railways from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Calcutta, Nagpur, Ahemadabad & almost all the major cities of  india. Ajanta caves, one of the jewels of Indian historical places are one of the excursions from Bhusawal.
